This is the second time that my Conky has gone conky.
What’s causing all this?
How do you set the wallpaper?
What program do you use?
The following conditions must be met to generate thumbnails for Polaroid Conky:
W-A-w.I use the file manager like any sane person would. I right click the image, choose set as wallpaper. That’s not the problem. The problem is that the thumbnails just vanish for no obvious reason. It may be something I have running in the background, or it may not be. I have no clue, but I will find out. This is the second time it’s happened. The first time was when I intentionally did some cleanup of my SSD and I thought well, I did that. This time however, the images were there when I went to sleep and were gone when I awoke.
Generated thumbnails are located in ~/.cache/colorizer/thumbs/polaroid. So if you run some kind of cleaning on ~/.cache they might disappear.
Like I explained. They were there when I went to bed and gone when I awoke. I don’t have any scheduled tasks at all. As a matter of fact I don’t even have the cronie service enabled.
Ok, I’m just trying to be helpful so you can more easily find the reason why your Mabox installation is behaving differently than the default.
Mabox itself does not have a built-in mechanism to automatically remove these thumbnails.
So it must be caused by some program/script that is not present in Mabox by default.
Thank you for that. Now I’m curious. Is it possible to change the thumbnail folder that is referenced in the polaroid script to point someplace less vulnerable than the .cache?
I can see that every script that colorizer calls and even colorizer itself all reference those folders in .cache. So that’s probably not an option.
This would require rewriting the polaroid script and the wallpaper setting wrapper.
I don’t think it’s a good idea ![]()
The
~/.cachedirectory stores non-essential, user-specific cached data that applications use to speed up performance. It’s a place for temporary files, download parts, and other data that can be discarded without causing serious issues if deleted.
I didn’t think so either LOL
It’s really not a big deal. I can just cycle through a few backgrounds to repopulate the conky. I was just curious. Gotta keep in mind that over the last couple of years I had gone out of my way to break the system to no avail, so there’s no telling what, on my end, is causing the issue. I will find out though and get back to you.
