Hi, after the update synaptics touchpad no longer works on Toshiba notebook
Like, nothing at all or just the gestures? 
If the second case is true, maybe installing and configuring the touchegg package.
Also, make sure to press the Fn + Fxx keys in your laptop, maybe is simply that.
