I replaced Xorg with XLibre in a Virtual Machine. I’ll continue testing it.
@SauronsMouth good info ![]()
Have you used this repository?
That’s the exact page instructions I followed. I did it on a fresh install of the 12-2025 ISO after the initial updates and it worked great.
It should be noted that I tried the ‘curl’ script command and had to delete the VM. May have been something I did, but the ‘wget’ script command worked perfectly.
I’ve read that XLibre now has only one maintainer (I assume he’s the developer).
Doesn’t that pose a risk that if the developer leaves the project for any reason, the project could be lost and there would be no more updates?
Excuse me, I just saw on GitHub that there are more than 500 contributors; it seems I was working with outdated information.
Thanks for introducing xlibre.
Testing it on daily driver. So far so good ![]()
Interesting to read the reason of developing xlibre…
I am addicted to use stremio. Flatpak Stremio does not work under xlibre ![]()
Installing stremio from repo takes hours. So need flatpak version.
to be continued…
From what I understand development is taking place in a fork of Xorg because the big guys (Red Hat, Gnome, etc.) want to let Xorg development die and for Wayland to be the future. Some people say Wayland is not ready for Primetime, but I have no opinion of Wayland as I just don’t use it. I’m quite happy with Xorg.
