What do I need to do?

I think you need to restore pacman.conf to the one provided by Mabox.

I haven’t replaced the original file

Do I use Pamac

Or LXTerminal?

A catfish search shows 10 pacman.conf

But Pamac shows only one:

pacman-conf-diff-git and it is from AUR and is not installed.
