Clashing shortcuts in rc.xml (W-A-d)

Hi, everyone!

In /usr/share/mabox/common/rc.xml file (upstream), the shortcut W-A-d is taken twice for jgdesktops -s command (around line 500), and ToggleDockAutohide action (in line 181).

Since letter d is for dock or desktops, I rather keep that shortcut for the dock autohide feature; however, letter w is for both windows and wallpaper… So, since I love my jgdesktops -s command, I will use W-A-a (not in use, currently).

Hope you don’t have this clashing of shortcuts.

Another question. Sometimes, in rc.xml I see <mousebind action="Click"> and sometimes <mousebind action="Press">. Is there a real difference?

What program you use in Openbox Dock?

I binded W-A-d to ToggleDockAutohide in rc.xml years ago, when I used GKrellm in dock often. Then I stopped using GKrellm in dock, forgot about that shortcut and bind it to jgdesktops -s

Seems Openbox’s Dock is not very useful nowadays - it is difficult to find programs that can be attached to dock. I found only GKrellm.

I became curious too… :penguin:

  • Press: triggers when you press the mouse button down.
  • Click: triggers after you press and release the mouse button (a full click).

Use Press for actions like moving or resizing windows — things that start immediately when you press.

Use Click for toggles, menus, or anything that should only happen after a full click (press + release).

Example:

  • Press + Alt+Left = start moving window
  • Click + Middle = toggle decorations
